5 Interesting Things You Didn’t Know About CBD

What is CBD even?

To put it simply, CBD is one of the MANY components to the cannabis plant that has a positive effect on us.

Due to its popularity in 2019, people are seeking and learning more about CBD as the seeming be-all-end-all cure for many psychological or physical issues that modern medicine hasn’t been able to help them with.

While we can’t exactly vouch for that, we can say that we have seen some amazing leaps in the health and well-being of many of our customers.

But we don’t blame people who do believe that! Especially after the federal government recently charged a major pharmaceutical drug distributor for its role in perpetuating the opioid epidemic.

CBD has been known to improve anxiety, depression, pain, insomnia, acne, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and more.

But there’s still so much about CBD that we just don’t know. So we wanted to share some interesting facts about our favorite cannabinoid.

1. CBD is safe for children and pets.

Unlike its psychoactive counterpart, THC, CBD is totally okay for kids and our furry friends to use.

One of CBD’s most exciting applications lies in the results we’ve seen when it comes to children with epilepsy.

There have been children and adults who were experiencing dozens of seizures every day who have found that CBD can dramatically decrease the number of seizures they experience daily.

And if that wasn’t heart-warming enough, CBD can help pets too!

Like humans, CBD has a number of healing properties that work for our furry friends.

Some of the issues that CBD has been known to alleviate for pets include inflammation, anxiety, pain, skin issues, fearfulness, and many other issues.

Your fur baby will thank you!

2. Queen Victoria of England used CBD.

Ladies, it’s time we medicate like queens!

In 1890, Queen Victoria of England was prescribed CBD-rich cannabis by Sir J. Russell Reynolds to help alleviate her menstrual cramps.

He wrote, “When pure and administered carefully, [cannabis[ is one of the most valuable medicines we possess.”

Looks like someone was ahead of his time! You go, Sir J. Russell Reynolds!

3. CBD won’t get you high.

A common misconception about CBD is that because it comes from cannabis, you can get totally baked with it.

But fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on what you want to get out of your experience, CBD is non-psychoactive.

This means that CBD won’t affect your mental processes.

So then you may be wondering, if CBD doesn’t affect your mental state, how does it work to improve anxiety, psychosis, cravings, and even your general mood without giving you some sort of cerebral experience?
The answer is that CBD works “behind the scenes”, if you will, to help to alleviate your issues. While it does impact our psyche, it doesn’t do it in the same way that smoking a joint will.

4. CBD is not always best by itself.

But let’s back it up a little bit.

If you thought there were just THC and CBD, you’re about to get your mind blown.

There are over 400 compounds in cannabis, and they ALL work together to have a synergistic effect on the body and mind.

This phenomenon is known as the Entourage Effect. Mounting evidence supports that substances may be more effective in their whole and natural state, especially when it comes to medical uses.

5. CBD might be able to fight cancer.

A recent study from the National Cancer Institute has shown that CBD (along with THC) is effective in helping alleviate associated symptoms of cancer treatment, AND it may also have properties that damage and/or destroy tumor cells!

The case study was done on breast cancer patients.

The study explained that, “CBD inhibited the survival of both estrogen receptor-positive and estrogen receptor-negative breast cancer cell lines, inducing apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner while having little effect on nontumorigenic mammary cells.”

Basically, this means that CBD was able to destroy the bad cells while maintaining health in the good cells! Amazing!

  1. I used CBD Oil for my dogs when we go to our Vet. They are so excited when we
go outside. I gave them CBD Oil 15 to 30 minutes prior. CBD oil for our pets
can treat health issues such as digestive or upset tummy, inflammation, joint
pain or even allergies. I tried this in my dog, I gave it when I knew it
    was a stressful situation.
